“Bree spent all morning in the test kitchen
making sure she got it perfect. Perfectly, wrong. You see Bree had an idea on
how to get Jennifer to spill the beans on her not so secretly past life, and
this is how she was going to do it…” Jennifer took a bite of the cheesecake and spit it into the
napkin. “Bree this is terrible…” Jennifer regained composure after seeing
disappointment in Bree’s face. “I can’t imagine what I've done wrong… will you
help me?” Jennifer saw right through Bree. “ OK what’s this about, Bree your
reputation in baking is written in history books, you are THE Bree VanDeKamp…
you could never mess up this much, so…spill it.” Jennifer stood tapping her
foot, tongue in cheek. “Oh shoot! You got me. I've just felt so guilty about
your money problems; I wanted to offer you that job.” Jennifer stopped tapping.
“Really? Why the change of heart?” Bree smiled. “ I've been there before, having
talent and passion and then having it ripped away, making you believe, because
you did better than someone you should feel guilty… I guess I just wanted to
say…” Jennifer smiled. “Oh Bree you didn't have to make a bad cake to
apologize… I forgive you, and I would love to work beside you.” With that Bree
smiled even bigger “Wonderful! See me tomorrow at noon.” Bree smiled and threw
the cheesecake in Jennifer’s garbage and walked back home.
Gaby laid her head on the desk in defeat.
Then a noise made her jump up. “Carlos, someone bided on my Prada bag!” Carlos
leaned back from the sink with toothpaste still on his mouth, brushing his
teeth. “Thas gray hoyee” he said muffled. Gaby giggled as she saw the bids
going higher and higher. “My god I can pay the bills and afford to buy better
clothes.” Gaby jumped up and grabbed more things from her closet. Celia walked
in and looked at what was going on around her and started to cry. This stopped
Gaby from throwing clothes on the bed and Carlos to take another peek into the
room. Celia then screamed and ran. They both ran after her. Upon entering the
girl’s room they saw Juanita hugging her. “What’s wrong?” Gaby asked. “Celia
said you’re fighting and mommy’s moving out.” They both sat down. “I’m not
leaving, why would she say that?” Celia wiped her eyes. “Daddy was foaming at
the mouth.” Gaby rolled her eyes.
“It’s called Jakob Disease…” Renee, Ben
& Doug were in the living room and not too much talking was going on at
this point. “What kind of name is that for a life threatening disease?” Renee
asked. Ben just had his hands clapped over his mouth. Doug continued. “…It’s a
rare degenerative disease of the central nervous system…” once again silence.
“Why do you need me?” Ben asked. Doug looked over at Renee. “I hear you’re
great at architecture… and I have to move to Paris for special treatment, I
want a new life and maybe… a new house.” Doug squinted. “What about your wife,
won’t she be upset?” Renee asked genuinely concerned. “She left me as soon as
she heard how long I would be alive…” Ben and Renee looked at each other. Renee
swallowed hard. “How long?” she asked. Doug took a second to collect his
thoughts. “When the initial symptoms start, you have a year… I've known about
this for six months.” Doug started to tear up. Renee stood and rubbed his back
looking back at Ben. He just smiled, still with his hands clapped in front of
his mouth.
Jennifer couldn't wait to work for
Bree. She never had spending money and she always saw Gabrielle Solis dressed
to impress. As she looked down at her own clothes, she sighed. But that same
day what Jennifer didn't know was that someone also knew she was having money
issues. When she went to deposit Steve’s check into the bank she noticed
another transaction from that morning. A deposit in the amount of 25.000…
Jennifer quickly called Steve. “Well if you didn't do it, it’s gotta be a
mistake…” Steve told Jennifer to ask the teller to give her any information on
the mysterious deposit. “…Oh yes, actually the gentleman that put that money in
there said you would be inquisitive over it…” the little lady at the desk
giggled. “…He told me to give you this note, and to smile.” Jennifer took the
note from her hand. Upon reading it a mixture of anger and relief seemed to
surge through her and she simply just walked out.
